David Grimsland – Pianist & Entertainer

 

David was born in New Jersey in 1965 the son of immigrant parents from Norway. David became very involved with visual and performance arts throughout his childhood. He began studying piano at the age of five with classical training and moved on to popular music as he entered his teens.  Influenced heavily by music of the 60s and 70s, he began playing in many bands and performing regularly all throughout junior high and high school.

 

David attended and graduated from the Art Institute of Philadelphia in 1985. He obtained his degree as a portrait and landscape painter. He moved to Boulder Colorado in 1987 and began studying jazz piano with jazz great Art Lande. He played in a variety or rock and jazz ensembles and continued to work on ear and site training.  This culminated with his appearance at the 2007 Telluride Jazz Festival with Bola Abimbola.

 

In 2005 David and his wife Irina became the parents of triplet boys. David began working as a solo performer at The Reef a dueling piano club in Boulder, CO. Originally hired as the opening act, he quickly found his way into the dueling piano circuit and became well versed in entertaining both as a musician and comedian.

In 2008 David’s journey brought him to the Golden Bee at the Broadmoor Hotel In Colorado Springs. The legendary Broadmoor is the oldest 5-Star resort in the country. The Golden Bee, with it's Old English style pub and sing-along was the perfect fit. In addition to private solo performances.

David also is the founder of Denver Piano Shows, who provide dueling pianos shows throughout Colorado and the surrounding states. 

When not performing Dave enjoys time with his family participating in soccer, piano, scouting, skiing, camping and much more with his wife and triplet boys who are now 13.

David also serves on the Board of Directors for the Autism Society of Boulder County.
